Passes in five (5) subjects at the CSEC/GCE (General Proficiency) Examination,
Grade 1 to 111 (grade 111 from 1998) or A to C (or equivalent) which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least one of the following Science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Integrated Science. |
Passes in three (3) subjects at the CSEC/GCE (General Proficiency) Examination,
Grade 1 – 111 or A – C (or equivalent) which must include English Language, Mathematics and at least one of the following Science subjects: Biology, Human and Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Integrated
Science (Single Award). This must be together with the Certificate in Refraction Techniques, obtained through the 12 months programmes offered by the Caribbean Council for the Blind/Eye Care Guyana in affiliation with the School of Professional Development.
The certificate must have been obtained with a minimum of pass with credit/or C average and a minimum of 2 years experience served as a Refraction Technician. These applicants must also be successful at the University of Guyana Entrance Exam |
Mature students (26 years and over) will be considered for admission to the programme provided that they have three (3) subjects at the CSEC/GCE (General Proficiency) Examination. Grade 1 to 111 or A – C (or equivalent) which must include English Language, together with one of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Integrated Science or Mathematics and three years continuous relevant experience. These applicants must also be successful at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE). |
Holders of the Associate Degree in Optometry can be admitted to the BSc Degree in Optometry in the 3rd year of the BSc Programme. |
(Any other qualification deemed relevant by the Faculty of Health Sciences. |
